Video post formats that are working right now

10 on Instagram, 10 on LinkedIn. Each one is a reusable structure you can copy with your own topic, backed by real posts from different creators. Metrics collected 29 Oct 19:00 UTC – 29 Oct 22:36 UTC.

Top 3 to try first

Instagram

"My reaction to ___" number ladder

The cheapest one to film: 7–20 s, one shot, no lines. It's current (most examples are from Oct 2026), and a 2K-follower matcha brand got 20K likes with it. A B2B version like "my reaction to how many tools are in your stack" gets people to post their own numbers in the comments.

Instagram

Tier list (S to F)

Proven on business topics: Dan Martell's AI tools tier list (197K likes), Tyler McBroom's tax tier list (27K) and Sabri Suby's marketing channel tier list (4.1K). Every placement starts an argument in the comments, and the finished board gets saved.

LinkedIn

Corporate satire skit (POV)

LinkedIn's strongest video format here relative to account size. A 9.7K-follower engineer got 2,645 reactions with one skit, against about 200 on his other posts. A skit about your buyer's worst Monday sells without looking like an ad.

Instagram

10 Reels formats

  1. Tier list (S to F ranking)
  2. Blind ranking (rank 1-N as revealed, no moving)
  3. Cheap vs expensive side-by-side test
  4. Street interview / asking strangers one question
  5. "My reaction to ___" (escalating number ladder)
  6. "Reasons to follow or unfollow me"
  7. "The process vs the product"
  8. Timestamped vlog (a day told clip-by-clip with timestamps)
  9. Green-screen take (creator over a headline, tweet or post)
  10. 'Things I'd never do as a [profession]' (insider confessions)
01

Tier list (S to F ranking)

Title card 'X Tier List (2026)' → creator drops items one by one into S/A/B/C/D/F rows on a tier-maker grid with a one-line reason each → finished board invites 'you put Y in C??' comments.

Why it works

Every placement is a mini-verdict viewers disagree with, so it farms comment debate and stitches; the finished grid is a reference people save and send. Watching for where their own pick lands keeps people to the end.

Length, style, production

30-90s; talking head or voiceover over a tier-maker template / screen recording or a static ranked graphic with audio; low production (template + phone).

Try it as a B2B / marketing brand

'Marketing channel tier list for B2B SaaS in 2026': rank LinkedIn ads, cold email, SEO, webinars, podcasts, events from S to F with one stat each, then ask 'what would you move up?' to pull comments from practitioners.

DuckDuckGo search snippets for 8 other zestro_gamingpk reels Jul-Oct 2026 show 27-96 likes. Views: 2.1M on this reel vs a median of 17.7K across 46 of their other reels from the same ±45 days (about 119x), read on their Reels tab 29 Oct 20:58 UTC.

02

Blind ranking (rank 1-N as revealed, no moving)

Empty 1-5 list on screen → items revealed one at a time and the person must lock each into a slot without knowing what comes next → the last reveal forces a painful choice ('I already used my #1!').

Why it works

The no-take-backs rule creates suspense on every reveal and a near-guaranteed regret moment at the end; viewers rank along in their heads and post their own list in the comments.

Length, style, production

30-75s; numbered 1-5 overlay on a street interview, a guest/celebrity, or the creator alone; works as a street vox pop or a studio duo; low to medium production.

Try it as a B2B / marketing brand

'Blind ranking growth channels with a CMO': reveal SEO, paid social, events, partnerships, product-led growth one at a time and have a guest CMO lock each into 1-5; post a series with different guests and let commenters argue the order.

03

Cheap vs expensive side-by-side test

'$14 vs expensive [thing]' title → try or show the cheap one, then the pricey one, side by side → verdict on whether the price gap is worth it.

Why it works

Price gap is an instant curiosity gap, and viewers stay for the verdict ('is the expensive one actually better?'); people comment their own pick and save it as buying advice.

Length, style, production

30-90s; split screen or back-to-back cuts with price text overlays, taste/test reactions; talking head plus B-roll; low to medium production.

Try it as a B2B / marketing brand

'$50 logo vs $5,000 brand identity' or 'free CRM vs $150/seat CRM: same task, side by side', ending with when the expensive option pays off (manash.marketing already does 'cheap vs expensive branding').

04

Street interview / asking strangers one question

Mic in hand, 'Day N of asking people about their job' / 'asking strangers X' → quick cuts of strangers answering one repeatable question → payoff is the surprising answer (a salary, a talent, a reaction).

Why it works

Real people and unscripted answers keep curiosity high for each next person; the numbered-series ('Day 380') makes it a habit, and surprising answers get shared and debated in comments.

Length, style, production

20-90s; handheld vertical, lav or handheld mic, burned-in captions, street or campus location; low production but needs time on location.

Try it as a B2B / marketing brand

At a trade show or conference, ask attendees one question per series ('What tool would you cancel first?', 'Guess what this software costs'); brands like Sudathi already run 'guess the price' with strangers.

05

"My reaction to ___" (escalating number ladder)

Title text "My reaction to how much ___ you [spend / use / earn / ran]" → a number on screen climbs ($30 → $300 → $3,000; 1.5g → 5g; 18.0s → 10.5s) while your face and gestures react more and more with no words → the last number gets the big reaction, then "drop yours below".

Why it works

Viewers watch to see where their own number falls and how you react to it. That built-in 'where am I on this scale' question gets comments ('mine is 4g', 'I'm at $200 😭'), and people share it with friends who sit at the extreme end. It is very cheap to film and to turn into a series by swapping the metric.

Length, style, production

7–20 s; one static talking-head shot (no speech, or a couple of words) with a title overlay and a number sticker that changes on cuts; original or trending audio; phone on a tripod, minimal editing. Works in any niche that has a number people know about themselves.

Try it as a B2B / marketing brand

"My reaction to how many tools are in your marketing stack: 3… 8… 15… 27" or "…how long your sales cycle is: 14 days → 9 months" with the founder reacting. Then a follow-up reel that fixes the worst number. The comments tell you the audience's real numbers.

06

"Reasons to follow or unfollow me"

Title card "Reasons to follow (or unfollow) me" → a fast list of specific, mildly polarizing habits, opinions and quirks as text over b-roll or a talking head → "if that's you, follow / if not, bye".

Why it works

Telling people they might want to unfollow is a pattern break that makes them look for the line they disagree with, so they stay through the list. The polarizing items get comment arguments ("#4 is wrong") and 'this is so me' shares, and the clear self-selection turns the people who agree into followers.

Length, style, production

8–30 s; list-style text overlay (one reason per beat, or a full block of text) over a selfie/talking-head clip, car clip or podcast-set footage, often on a trending song; phone-shot or reused podcast footage; low production.

Try it as a B2B / marketing brand

A B2B brand or founder posts "Reasons to unfollow us: we think most dashboards are useless, we'll never gate a template behind a form, we post about pipeline hygiene on Fridays…" Each line states a point of view the right buyers agree with and others don't.

The embed now shows 87K followers, which probably includes followers gained from this run. DuckDuckGo search snippets show most of her other Jul–Oct reels at 1–72 likes; one other reel (DdZZcwCzE-B, Sep 17, snippet 21K likes) also went big, so her account was surging in Sept (snippet only, not verified). 07

"The process vs the product"

Caption or overlay "The process vs the product" → a quick montage of the messy, unglamorous making (raw materials, dust, tools, failed attempts, mess on the floor) → a hard cut to the clean finished product or space as the payoff.

Why it works

The reveal is a payoff viewers wait for, so watch time and rewatches are high. Showing the real labour makes the product look worth its price, and craft or renovation fans save and share it. The before/after gap also starts 'how long did this take?' comments.

Length, style, production

8–30 s; a montage of handheld BTS clips cut to the beat of a trending or original audio, with the finished-product shot at the end (sometimes the reverse order); text overlay or caption only, no voiceover; phone-shot, light editing. Used heavily by makers, small product brands, renovators and artists.

Try it as a B2B / marketing brand

For a SaaS or agency: 'The process vs the product' with screen-recorded chaos (whiteboard sketches, Figma iterations, Slack threads at 2am, a red CI run) cutting to the polished feature launch or client deliverable. It sells the craft behind the price.

08

Timestamped vlog (a day told clip-by-clip with timestamps)

Open on the first clip stamped '6:42 AM' → 10–25 short clips through the day, each with its own time stamp (coffee, commute, desk, meeting, gym, dinner), no voiceover and only ASMR or trending audio → it ends on the last stamp (bedtime, or the event's finish) and sometimes a one-line recap.

Why it works

The running clock gives a quiet day a story and a sense of progress, so viewers keep watching to see 'what happens at 3 PM'. The quick cuts and ambient sound make it rewatchable, and it reads as relatable and real, so people save it as routine inspiration. The comments ask about the products, the job and the schedule.

Length, style, production

15–60 s; a phone-shot montage of 1–3 s clips, a small timestamp text overlay on each, no talking (ASMR sounds or a soft trending track), sometimes swipe/hand-cover transitions between clips; low production, edited in CapCut or IG. Variants: morning routine, 'my 8-5', a travel day, a race day, an event done 'in 24 hours'.

Try it as a B2B / marketing brand

'Launch day with timestamps': 7:58 AM final QA → 9:00 AM ship → 9:14 first signup → 11:30 a bug → 4:00 PM customer call → 11:47 PM dashboard screenshot. Or a 'day in the life of our support lead' timestamp vlog for an employer-brand series.

09

Green-screen take (creator over a headline, tweet or post)

Headline, tweet, chat screenshot or someone's clip fills the background → creator keyed in front gives a fast, opinionated take → ends on a punchline or a question that splits the comments.

Why it works

The background gives instant context while the face gives the opinion, so viewers get news plus a take in under a minute; strong opinions drive comment fights (epistemiccrisis: 13.7K comments) and the series is cheap enough to post daily on whatever is trending.

Length, style, production

20-90s; phone selfie with the TikTok/CapCut green-screen effect over a screenshot, headline card or video; often a bold caption bar; very low production, speed matters more than polish.

Try it as a B2B / marketing brand

Weekly 'hot take on the industry headline': put the week's big product launch, funding round or LinkedIn post behind your founder and give a 30s 'here's what this actually means for marketers' take, ending on a yes/no question.

'Things I'd never do as a [profession]' (insider confessions)

Hook 'Things I would NEVER do as a [doctor/psychic/marketer]' → 3-5 quick insider rules with a reason each → payoff is the surprising or scary one that makes viewers check their own habits.

Why it works

Borrowed authority plus mild fear: viewers stay to see if they do the thing, then save the list and tag someone who does. The 'part 2' format turns hits into series.

Length, style, production

20-60s; talking head to camera, often with numbered text overlays or B-roll; sometimes a skit with a family member; low production.

Try it as a B2B / marketing brand

'Things I'd never do as a B2B marketer in 2026' from your Head of Growth: e.g. never gate a calculator, never send a 5-step sequence without a reply trigger, never build on one algorithm. One rule per beat, 'part 2' if it lands.

01

Corporate satire skit (POV office-life comedy)

'POV: [painfully familiar work moment]' caption → creator plays both boss and employee (or a jaded veteran) in a 30-75s scripted scene → escalating absurdity that ends on a punchline everyone has lived (layoff-by-AI, fake onboarding perks, 'sorry I was on mute').

Why it works

Instant recognition ('this is my company') drives tag-a-coworker comments and reposts; the deadpan escalation holds viewers to the punchline, and current anxieties (AI layoffs, RTO, corporate-speak) make it feel topical.

Length, style, production

20-80s; selfie/phone-on-tripod scripted sketch, creator plays multiple roles with costume/angle switches or a two-person Zoom-call setup; burned-in captions; low production, office or home-office set.

Try it as a B2B / marketing brand

A 45s 'POV: your quarterly board deck is due tomorrow' skit where a frazzled marketer plays both CMO and analyst; the product only appears as the quiet fix in the last beat (or not at all) to keep it native.

02

Interview-question breakdown

Hook names one dreaded interview question or moment ('Never leave an interview without asking this', 'How to answer "tell me about yourself"') → why the usual answer fails → the exact script or structure to use → 'tell me how it goes / save this'.

Why it works

High-stakes, instantly useful advice that job seekers save and tag friends on; the named question in the hook is a search-like promise, and 'what would you say?' invites comment debate from recruiters and hiring managers.

Length, style, production

30s–2min vertical selfie talking head (car, desk, or home office), burned-in captions, question shown as on-screen title; zero to low production, often a numbered series ('Part 1', 'Tuesday tip').

Try it as a B2B / marketing brand

A hiring-tech or HR SaaS brand runs a weekly 'How to answer…' series fronted by its in-house recruiter, flipped for buyers too: 'How to answer when the CFO asks "why now?"' for sales teams.

AI tool screen-recording walkthrough

Hook shows the before → after ('Here's how to turn 24 months of cash history into a live forecast', 'Claude is my video editor now') → step-by-step screen recording with face-cam or voice-over, prompt shown on screen ('screenshot this prompt') → CTA to comment for the prompt/template or a free course.

Why it works

Concrete, copyable how-to for a tool people are already curious about: viewers save it to try later and comment a keyword to get the prompt, and the visible result proves the claim faster than a text post can.

Length, style, production

45s–90s for single-trick demos, up to 9–13 min for full tutorials; screen capture with a face-cam bubble or talking-head intro, zoom-ins and captions. Low–medium production (screen recorder, light editing).

Try it as a B2B / marketing brand

A SaaS brand's solutions engineer posts 'Here's how I use [our product] + Claude to build X in 60 seconds', showing the real workflow on screen, with 'comment WORKFLOW for the prompt' — one job-to-be-done per video.

04

Personal story-time talking head (fired / laid off / failed → lesson)

Cold-open confession to camera ('3 years ago I was fired from the job I loved', 'I got laid off today', 'I got fired for my content') → the specific moment (the Friday 4:30 meeting, the two strange emails) → what happened next → the reframe/lesson or 'next chapter'.

Why it works

Vulnerable first-person stakes plus a concrete scene make people watch to the turn; layoff/firing stories trigger a flood of supportive comments and job-lead replies, which LinkedIn's feed amplifies (comments are often a third or half of reactions).

Length, style, production

30s-2.5min; single selfie or tripod talking head, natural light, no b-roll, burned-in captions; zero production — polish would hurt authenticity.

Try it as a B2B / marketing brand

Have the founder tell, to camera, the story of the customer they lost (or the launch that flopped) that led to building the product, ending on the one lesson — no pitch until the comments.

05

Cold call recording + breakdown

Hook naming the result ('booked a meeting on a LIVE cold call', 'I stole X's opener') → play the real (or re-enacted) call audio with captions → caption or voiceover breaks down the exact line that worked and why.

Why it works

Voyeur tension (will they hang up?) holds viewers through the call, and the stealable line in the caption earns saves and 'trying this tomorrow' comments; sellers argue in the comments about whether the opener is cringe or genius.

Length, style, production

30s-2.5min; phone/desk camera of the rep on headset or a dialer screen with burned-in captions, sometimes a two-person roleplay then a sit-down debrief; zero-to-low production.

Try it as a B2B / marketing brand

Have an SDR record a real call (with consent, prospect anonymised) where they use the product's research to open, then a 20s debrief overlay: 'the line that got me 30 more seconds was…'.

Say this, not that

Hook names a phrase everyone uses ('Stop writing "just checking in"', 'Don't say "I accept"') → why it quietly hurts you → the replacement line(s), often 2–3 numbered swaps → 'save this for your next meeting'.

Why it works

One small, copyable script per video makes it highly saveable and shareable; viewers comment with their own pet-hate phrases or push back on the swap, which keeps the comment thread going.

Length, style, production

25–65s vertical selfie talking head, burned-in captions, sometimes ❌/✅ text overlays; caption repeats the swaps as a list. Low production (phone, desk or car).

Try it as a B2B / marketing brand

A sales-engagement or email tool posts 'Say this, not that: follow-up edition' — the weak line from real (anonymised) outbound emails vs. the rewrite, fronted by its head of sales, with the swap list in the caption.

A signed-in LinkedIn video search on 29 Oct found the same pattern: Ravisha Agarwal's "How are you?" → "I'm beautiful, rich and fabulous" (112 reactions on 44K followers) matched her other videos (71–114). Mic-in-hand vox pop (one question at an event or on the street)

'I asked [people at Disney / founders at a16z Tech Week / marketers at Cannes] [one blunt question]' → rapid-fire cuts of 5-10 strangers answering on mic → the most surprising answer (or the host's reaction) lands last.

Why it works

One relatable question plus a parade of real faces creates comparison ('I'd have said…') and judgement in the comments; money/career questions (debt, salary) spark the strongest debate, while event-floor versions trade reach for networking value with the people featured (who reshare).

Length, style, production

30s-2min; handheld or gimbal phone with a branded handheld/lav mic, quick jump cuts, burned-in captions, name/role lower-thirds optional; low-medium production, shot on location (conference floor, street, theme park).

Try it as a B2B / marketing brand

Founder day-in-the-life / build-in-public vlog

'Day in the life of a [bootstrapped / small-business / $10M ARR] founder' or 'documenting the journey from $10M to $100M' → handheld vlog cuts of the unglamorous real day (packing orders, meetings, office tour, a mistake) → closing line on what's next + 'follow along'.

Why it works

Serialized 'follow the journey' framing gives viewers a reason to follow, and the deliberately un-aesthetic reality (family packing gummies at a kitchen table) earns supportive comments and congratulations that LinkedIn's feed rewards.

Length, style, production

30s-3min; selfie/handheld phone vlog with jump cuts, voiceover or to-camera narration, music bed, burned-in captions; low production; often numbered episodes ('Volume #1', 'Day 1').

Try it as a B2B / marketing brand

Have the founder post a weekly 60s 'week N of building [product]' vlog showing one real customer call, one shipped feature and one thing that broke, ending with the metric they're chasing.

A clear position in the first line stops the scroll and invites disagreement, so comments do the distribution; selfie framing (car, desk, kitchen, walk) reads as authentic rather than produced.

Length, style, production

30s–2.5min vertical selfie, handheld or propped phone, often walking or doing a task ('make dinner with me while…'), burned-in captions, caption restates the take. Lowest production of the batch.

Try it as a B2B / marketing brand

A founder or category lead posts a weekly 60s 'Unpopular opinion about [category]' walk-and-talk (e.g. 'Most intent data is just website traffic with a markup'), ending with 'agree or disagree?' to seed comment debate.

Podcast / interview clip

Open on the guest's sharpest line or contrarian claim ('Design partners are a trap', 'The first wave of fintech is over') → 30–120s of the story or argument from the full conversation → caption gives context and 'full episode in comments'.

Why it works

Borrowed authority plus a single quotable hot take: the cold open hooks in the first second, the guest's claim gives people something to agree or argue with in comments, and the full-episode link turns viewers into listeners.

Length, style, production

30s–2.5min, cut from a long recording; two-shot or alternating close-ups (sometimes vertical split screen), burned-in captions, guest name/title lower third. Medium production (studio or remote recording, editor or AI clipping tool).

Try it as a B2B / marketing brand

A B2B brand runs a customer or practitioner podcast and posts one 60s clip per episode from the host's and the guest's profiles, leading with the guest's most contrarian line about the category (e.g. 'Your attribution model is lying to you').
